Mixed Stripes

Spring is officially here ladies and floral prints and bright stripes are flooding our favorite fast fashion retailers. We've all heard the dreaded myth about stripes and their unflattering qualities, but I can assure you those days are long gone. If women can boldly display color blocking and rock studded stiletto boots through the streets of Beverly Hills these days, there's simply no reason we should continue living in fear of horizontal stripes. No piece of clothing or accessory is safe from this bold statement and it's time we all got in on the stripe action. Above I paired my colorful blouse by Splendid with my new Ted Baker skater skirt which you can see here. For accessories, I added ShoeMint shoes and my favorite House of Harlow 1960 pieces which you can see here and hereI love the contrast achieved when pairing stripes of different widths as well as playful color combos. Remember, for a more flattering striped appearance, go with a looser top and don't be afraid to mix. Your eye will constantly be entertained which in turn will give you a visually balanced ensemble. I urge you all to rock horizontal stripes this Spring and pair them with vertical stripes or zig zag lines to reach pure geometric perfection. For those of you who are too timid for this stripe on stripe look, try starting with a light silk scarf, paired with striped flats or an oversized clutch. For the daring fash mavens out there, opt for a bright striped trench or blazer with an equally powerful pump like this.

Above I'm wearing OPI's Pink Friday and Save Me glitter polish. Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday polish is my go-to for Spring. It's the perfect pink that I've been trying to find for years!
