Christian Dior Fall 2011 Couture

I'm absolutely dying over the Fall 2011 Dior Couture collection. The fashion world has been on the edge of their seats waiting with bated breath to see what the first Galliano-less show in 15 years was going to bring and the result did not disappoint. Bill Gaytten, the new genius behind the brand, brought his fabulously over the top visions to fruition in this breathtaking and memorable Fall Couture collection. I am seriously dying over the opening of the show which was filled with 80's inspired designs and pastel colors. And obviously I'm fainting over the beyond fabulous oversized fascinators. Maybe I'm just partial because my fiance and I are having a Mad Hatter engagement party at the end of the month and when it comes to head decor, I'm looking for inspiration wherever I can find it. The reaction to the collection, which transitions from 80's to vibrant flowing chiffon, has been mixed with some critiquing its "lack of cohesion." Yes, the collection certainly has a gap, but when each piece is this beautiful, I can't complain. I think it is creative, inventive, and visually stunning. Below are my favorite looks from the Fall 2011 Couture show. Visit Style.com to view the complete collection. Which look is your favorite?

  3. There's been mixed reviews about this collection, with comments that it's been the work of a team without a clear leader & i think it shows.
How's your little dog? Hope he's recovering xoxo

  4. I love the drawings by Brittany, they are so simple but look great.

I echo the same concern as Adele and really hope your dog is doing ok, and on the mend. Thinking of you.

  6. I have read the same thing about the collection considering everything the house as been through with the changing of the guard I don't think it is horrible but they will improve once they find their identity outside of Galliano.

I really hope your dog is doing much better and glad to see you back blogging

  9. they float and glide, these creatures,
creatures of the mysterious enigmatic deep
    creatures of some lullaby lagoon,
    a tedious balance
between our dreams and our mind's waking.

  16. Sad to say I'm not digging this collection. Maybe because it's too much of a throwback to the 80's with all the geometric prints and crazy head gear.

  17. Not my fav! I like SOME of the colors and patterns, but to be honest I don't like how literal the 80's reference is. The combination of pastels, geometric patterns and the exaggerated silhouettes is just to reminiscent of the Golden Girls set design. I do however like some of the richer tones and color combos towards the end of your posting. I also like the muted rusty tones and Southwestern vibes in a couple other pieces.
