Rachel Zoe Spring/Summer 2012

The highly anticipated spring collection from Rachel Zoe debuted yesterday during New York Fashion Week to a multitude of mixed reviews. The super stylist and my personal style icon has come a long way from styling tabloid starlets. When asked about her most recent high-end ready-to-wear collection, Rachel revealed she was influenced by Brigitte Bardot in the South of France, describing the line as "easy glamour." I adore the white maxi skirt and electric blue belted jumper. Rachel's addition of color mixed between the sea of white was a nice and fresh touch to the mostly neural collection. As much as I wish I was "bananas" for Rachel's most recent looks, I'm actually slightly underwhelmed, especially compared to her show-stopping Resort 2012 collection. Though the collection has its moment and continues to solidify Rachel's design endeavors, I was hoping for some seriously trend setting pieces. We knew RZ would bring us fabulously tailored jackets, one shouldered garments, elegant gowns and maxi dresses but where are the edgy innovative pieces?  That being said, the flared trouser is impossible not to love. Above is a picture Rachel tweeted just before the presentation of her Spring 2012 collection. I'm dying to know what you think of the style mavens latest designs. Overwhelmingly fabulous or underwhelmingly predictable?

  5. Even tho the collection looks a lot like what we have seen from her before I commend Rachel Zoe for not really stepping out of her comfort zone, especially since she is relatively new to designing. I think as she gets more confident and comfortable with her skill set she will probably start to change up a bit but for right now I really do love how wearable her collections are so I can't really complain. She really has surpassed my expectations of her as a designer already so I am just going to set back and enjoy watching her growth as a designer.

  6. Rachel Zoe's first designer attempts pretty much consisted of clothes she'd wear herself, and she has a pretty limited aesthetic (can you tell I watch Project Runway?). This shows her trying to venture out to other types of women. I could never see Rachel in shorts or really form-fitting clothes like the ones in this collection. Way to branch out a bit, Rachel!

  16. I actually think she did a great job and I'm not just saying that because I love her. She was smart and made eye catching, trendy pieces that are totally wearable, but still edgy. I adore the cropped pants suit <3

  17. I do love all the pieces, and would definitely wear every single one of them. They are well tailored, and gorgeous. That being said, it is very "Rachel Zoe" and predictable, but maybe that is what she is going for?

    p.s. check out my giveaway!!

  18. i really love her collection..the pieces are very "Rachel" and i think she is not taking to many risks but i mean it´s her second and first time on FW so i can´t wait to see what´s coming next from her :)

  19. I loved the all white and all black looks but most of the other looks I thought were either boring, unflattering, or even ugly. I'm not big fan of the lux boho look she so often does though, but I do love her show.

  25. How fun, I hadn't seen these designs yet and I just watched this week's show with her and I'm glad you shared these pics because I think you're right. it's a bit underwhelming. Almost a bit like Express designs. I do really like that white Maxi dress though. It's SO cute. Nice post

  30. Hi! I've just read this post and I think it is great but there is a little thing which is annoying me (just a bit). You can't write Bridget Bardot, you can't translate a name (even if a French name corresponds to an English name), so you should have written Brigitte Bardot.
