Trend Report - Wedges

Recently my wonderful fiance and I fled from the hills of Hollywood and visited the insanely gorgeous Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach, where I had the opportunity to break in my newest pair of wedges. They were the superb choice for a day around the pool and strolling along the beach. If you haven't visited the beaches of Laguna you must plan a trip. I could sit and watch the waves crash against the rocks for hours. Ironically Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom were staying at the Montage as well. The best part of living in LA is being able to escape to so many amazing places that are just a short drive away. Wedges have fluctuated in popularity throughout the years, but in 2011 they are one of the hottest shoe styles around. The first wedge was created by Italian designer, Salvatore Ferragamo in 1936 when he created the wedges out of cork and wood. Now wedges are made out of many different materials and produced by all of the most popular designers. And thank goodness, because without them we'd never get that much needed break from our stilettos. Wedges are more comfortable than pumps and actually better for your feet and back due to the extra arch support. I always throw on wedges when I know I'm going to be walking a lot. They're the perfect summer shoe for every girl on the go and most importantly, they still give the illusion of a heel while offering the comfort of a flat.

This summer throw on your wedges with your favorite dress, shorts or maxi skirt. In these pictures I paired my Nine West wedges with a fun pair of bright pink H & M shorts and an ultra comfy light pink BCBG Max Azira crop top. If you haven't stocked up on some of summer's go-to shoe, you simply must check out the links below. There are some seriously amazing wedges available right now in stunning styles, colors and various heights. There's no excuse why your closet should be lacking in the wedge sandal department. Below are some pictures of my favorite celebrities like Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe rocking their favorite wedges. Are you loving this trend?
